Studio B Gallery to Offer Ken DeWaard Workshop in July

May 11, 2018 by The Spy

Join PAE Competition Artist Ken DeWaard for this compelling 3 day plein air workshop in and around the town of Easton

Ken DeWaard began his art career in Chicago and continued his studies at the American Academy of Art where he studied with the accomplished watercolorist, Irving Shapiro. His work is strongly inspired by artists like John Singer Sargent, Joaquin Sorolla, William Wendt, Edgar Payne, Nicolai Fechin, and the Russian Impressionists. He finds himself drawn to painting various subject matter from everyday life. His excitement and passion for his work are captured in the fleeting effects of light and the wonderful color nuances in his paintings.

Ken’s style of plein air painting is marked by his pure approach and his bravura brush style, painting directly from life. His three day plein air workshop, right on the heels of Plein Air Easton, will begin with a demonstration on Monday morning. He will then provide individual instruction at each student’s easel to help make your paintings fresh, vibrant, and full of light and color. This workshop will be open to all mediums and levels.

This workshop will be held at various locations in and around the town of Easton. We will have a “Meet and Greet” reception Sunday evening at Studio B Gallery. The workshop will begin with a demonstration on Monday morning on location, and will be followed by plein air painting at various locations with individual instruction from Ken. The workshop will take place from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on all three days.
