Talbot Arts Approves Record-Level Support for Talbot County

July 26, 2023 by Spy Desk

Share

This past month, Talbot Arts wrapped up an incredible year while the arts council Board approved record-level spending for the year ahead.

In partnership with the Maryland State Arts Council, investment at the county level reached $1.8M in FY 2023 due to the State’s generous arts relief funding package. With the last of the arts relief funding now disbursed, Talbot Arts remains committed to continuing significant investment in the local arts community.

Grant programs provide financial support and services to local arts organizations and programs, schools’ arts enrichment programs, and summer arts scholarships for gifted and talented middle and high school students. Requests often exceed the resources available. Talbot Arts grant review committees carefully assess each application to determine how the proposal meets the community’s needs, incorporates the community’s interests and priorities as related to the arts, and aligns with the mission and vision of the organization. While maintaining long-standing relationships with many county-wide groups, Talbot Arts encourages all non-profit arts organizations to apply for grants. For the first time, Community Arts Development recipients include Crashbox Theatre, Perfect Storm Productions, and the Working Artists Forum. A complete list of FY 2024 Community Development Arts grants is posted on the website www.talbotarts.org.

Founded in 1987, Talbot Arts is committed to supporting the arts sector, equitably distributing funds through grants and services to enrich and enhance the quality of life and economic vitality for all citizens and visitors to Talbot County.
