The Talbot County Health Department is partnering with the Red Cross to host a community blood drive on Wednesday, December 10 from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM at the Department. Local residents are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and donate blood to help save lives.
“Our employees care deeply about this community, and this blood drive is one way we can turn that care into action,” said Heather Sconce, Deputy Health Officer at the Department. “By rolling up our sleeves, we’re supporting patients and hospitals who rely on a stable blood supply every day.”
Appointments are encouraged to reduce wait times, but walk-ins are also welcome. Donors must be at least 17 years old (or 16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in general good health. A valid ID is required at the time of donation.
To schedule your donation, call 410-819-5600. You can also visit redcrossblood.org and enter the ZIP code 21601 in the “Find A Blood Drive” search bar to sign up.
Blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors. With someone in the U.S. needing blood every two seconds, blood products must be constantly replenished, according to the Red Cross.
