The Oxford Regatta took place last weekend at the pictured Tred Avon Yacht Club in Oxford, Maryland. The first Tred Avon Yacht Club Regatta was held in 1931 when the Club was established as the Kap Dun Club on the Strand next to the ferry dock. In 1932 the name was changed to the Tred Avon Yacht Club. The Tred Avon Yacht Club and Easton’s Chesapeake Bay Yacht Club joined forces in 1934 to put on a joint Regatta and named it the Oxford Regatta! The two Clubs continue that tradition today! This 1939 TAYC Club House was replaced by the present one in 1991! Facts: TAYC.com. Photo from the Talbot Historical Society’s Laird Wise Collection.
