So many things to enjoy looking at here in Downtown Easton! The Frame Hotel at the corner of Washington and Goldsborough Streets was built in 1866 by George Haddaway. A previous building, stables and out houses on this site were included in the 1847 estate of John Leeds Kerr who ran it as the “Union Tavern”. During the Civil War Union soldiers were billeted there and it was then known as the “Union Hotel”. In 1897 Simon Nevius and Charles L. Frampton bought the property and it became the Nevius and Frampton Hardware building. It was still Nevius Hardware when this fire occurred in 1955! Simon’s sons Carl and Ronald ran it at that time. Do you remember this fire?? Do you remember how amazing Nevius Hardware store was??
