Talbot Humane (TH) is extremely proud to introduce our inaugural Holiday Ornament. The idea was brought to Patty Quimby (Executive Director), and the TH Board, by the coordinating committee of the TH Holiday “Pawsitively Fabulous Pet Boutique.” The team presented the concept of establishing a “shelter animal” themed art contest across our community each year, with the winning selection becoming our annual ornament.
In the late spring TH launched the first “contest,” and received a variety of fantastic submissions. While it was a tough decision, ultimately Patty and the Board thought that Nicholas Casale’s Holiday Pup was the perfect way to launch the ornament.
Kristy Casale, Nicholas’ mother, brought her very excited 9 year old son into the front office of Talbot Humane just minutes before the contest was over. He had seen the contest and excitedly embraced the idea. He loves crafts, drawing/painting and has even landed a supporting role in the upcoming performance of Elf. We are thrilled to have a local child’s vision of a Shelter Holiday Pup be the very first TH ornament to hang on Talbot County (and beyond) Holiday trees.
The ornament will be sold at the Talbot Humane Holiday “Pawsitvely Fabulous Pet Boutique”, located directly next to Talbot Humane, from November 2nd-December 23rd. The shop is open Thursday – Saturday, from 10 am – 5 pm, and is filled to the brim with a wonderful assortment of items that will make great Holiday gifts for all pet lovers.
The Holidays are a very special time, and it is Talbot Humane’s hope that the ornament(s) will become a celebrated family tradition within our community. Please come support our young local artist and Talbot Humane by purchasing your very own ornament. We look forward to sharing this special piece with you every year.
