The holiday season is a wonderful time to count your blessings and give back to your community. Mark your calendars, because Talbot Humane is offering fun, new ways to support the animals and programs while celebrating the season, including a 5K race and
family run, a dog brigade in Easton’s parade, a holiday open house, and a cookie exchange!
Talbot Humane’s 4th Annual Home for the Holidays Open House will be on December 3rd. Visit the adoption center from 11a-4p to feast on homemade treats, enter to win awesome door prizes, shop for the pets and pet lovers in your life and of course fall in love with a new friend! Bring a bag or can of pet food for our pet pantry as to help the animals of our area.
At 6:30p that evening join in the fun of Easton’s Olde Tyme Holiday Parade by participating in the first ever Talbot Humane Dog Brigade. “We are asking all dog lovers to join us in showing off their four-legged family members in the holiday parade,” shares volunteer coordinator, Susan Langfitt. “We will bring dogs from the shelter who are looking for a family of their own, and we would love to have the support of dog owners in the community who know how much happiness a dog can bring to your life.”
If you would like to join the Dog Brigade to benefit Talbot Humane (be sure to dress in festive garb!), registration forms are at the shelter or on the website at www.talbothumane.org. For safety purposes, pre-registration for this event is a must. The fee is $25 ($5 for each additional dog per family), which goes directly to help pay for food, medical care and other costs associated with caring for shelter animals.
Lace ‘em up for Talbot Humane’s 5K Run and Reindeer Dash on December 10. Local racers Julie Fickes and Amy Eutsey are chairing the 5K Run and one-mile Reindeer Dash for kids to raise funds for Talbot Humane. All runners, as well as walkers and families, are encouraged to join in the fun, which will start and end at Idlewild Park. Following the race, kids 10 and under can join in a one-mile dash around the Idlewild track. Prizes will be awarded to the top three runners in both events.
“We are so grateful and excited for this new event,” says Patty Crankshaw-Quimby, Executive Director. “This is a fun way for people to support Talbot Humane, while doing something that’s healthy too. We love the idea of giving the children of our area a way to make a difference for the animals during this holiday season.”
Pre-registration forms for the 5K Run can be found at www.talbothumane.org. The first 100 registrants will receive goody bags the day of the race. Pre-registration fees are $25/individual, $10/student, and $40/family, and include a tee shirt. Day of race registration fees are $30/individual, $15/student, and $45/family. A $5 donation is requested for kids participating in the Reindeer Dash. Thanks to event sponsors WCEI, All Pets Veterinary Hospital, The Pet Health Clinic, Easton ROCKS, Easton Foot & Ankle Center, and Human Healthy Vending, all entry fees will directly benefit the animals at Talbot Humane.
Finally, don’t miss Talbot Humane’s annual Cookie Exchange held at the Easton Farmer’s Market on December 10 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. This is fast becoming a favorite event, where you can support the shelter by purchasing a box of homemade holiday cookies for family and friends.
