Talbot Mentors will feature more than twenty pieces of its students’ artwork at a reception to be held at the Academy Art Museum on Friday, March 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. A presentation takes place at 6 p.m. Hill’s Soda Fountain and Cafe is providing hors d’oeuvres for the event.
The artwork is created each year through the organization’s Partners In Art program. Area artists volunteer their time and share their skills in a variety of media with Talbot Mentors students. Mentors provide transportation to the artists’ studios for the students’ sessions.
Artists who participated in the past year include Gwen Cameron-Davis, Deborah Colborn, Myra Frost, Lin Layton, Tom McCall, Margot Miller, Peg Papa, Jackie Pfaff-Pratt, Tom Ryan, Jen Wagner, Heidi Wetzel and Paul Winters. This is the fourth year for the program. Frost and Winters both have volunteered each year since it began.
Executive Director Diana Trams thanked Talbot Mentors board member and artist Margot Miller for her assistance in recruiting other artists and coordinating activities with them. Trams also expressed her appreciation to Hill’s owners Pam Zak and Jennifer McCrea, to the Talbot County Arts Council for a grant in support of the program and to the Academy Art Museum for hosting the event.
The Partners In Art reception is free and open to the public.
