The Christ Church Choir and friends will present Théodore Dubois’ The Seven Last Words of Christ on March 24 at 4:00 p.m. under the direction of Music Director, Wes Lockfaw. Accompanied by orchestra, the concert will feature a number of soloists from the community as well as several additional pieces by 16th century English composer,Richard Farrant, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Giuseppe Verdi.
The Seven Last Words of Christ, Dubois’ best known work, contains eight movements: a soprano introduction followed by a movement devoted to each word of Christ from the Cross. It’s presentation follows the ancient Christian tradition of singing the Passion narrative during Holy Week and is part of the Christ Church Concert Series. Sponsored in part by the Talbot County Arts Council, a free will offering will be received. The church is located at 111 S. Harrison Street, and the public is invited.
