Academy Art Museum Presents Lecture by Award-Winning Cartoonist Kal Kallaugher
On Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 6 p.m., the Academy Art Museum in Easton, MD, is presenting a lecture, “Daggers Drawn” by Kevin “Kal” Kallaugher, award-winning Editorial Cartoonist for the Economist and Baltimore Sun, as part of the Museum’s Kittredge-Wilson Lecture Series.
Kallaugher’s distinguished career spans 35 years and he has created over 8000 cartoons and 140 magazine covers. His resumé includes six collections of his published work, one man exhibitions in six countries, as well as international honors and awards.
Since 2006, this Norwalk, CT native and Harvard University graduate, has been the Artist-in-Residence at University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC).
He has created acclaimed animations and calendars, toured the US with Second City, and addressed audiences around the world.
In 1999, The World Encyclopedia of Cartoons said of Kallaugher, “Commanding a masterful style, Kallaugher stands among the premier caricaturists of the (twentieth) century.”
Kallaugher lives near Baltimore, Maryland and when not drawing, enjoys snacking on crab cakes and fly fishing in local waters.
The Museum’s Kittredge-Wilson lectures are held on Thursdays throughout the year.
The cost is $15 for Museum members and $20 for non-Museum members.
