The Rotary Club of Tidewater-Easton will host its Second Annual Fishing Tournament on Friday, May 10th in Oxford. The club is working with more than 8 local boat charters to take participants out during prime rockfishing season.
The cost per entry is $150, which includes boat, bait, tackle, an event t-shirt and lunch at the Masthead at Pier Street Marina in Oxford. Prizes will be awarded for the three largest fish caught during the day. The event is designed for anglers of any ability and all are welcome to register. Those who would just like to join the group for lunch may do so for $20.00.
In 2012, the club hosted 24 anglers and raised more than $5,000. Organizers hope to bring in $7,500 this year.
“Following the tremendous success of last year’s event, we are establishing a tradition and welcoming more anglers to the tournament,” commented Brian Gearhart, Club Fundraising Chair. “We’re looking forward to a beautiful day with great company and lots of fish.”
Event sponsors include Benson & Mangold Real Estate, Anthony Walker Duncan Accountants, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, Whitten Insurance, First Home Mortgage and National Premium.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the community service work of the Tidewater-Easton Club, which has included support of the Easton Care-Packs Program, Page Turners, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, Camp Fairlee Manor, White Marsh Elementary School, The Sandy Hook Rotary Club and Pennies for Polio in the past year.
