The Tred Avon Players leads off their 2013 season with the witty murder mystery “Spider’s Web” beginning February 7th. It’s a classic country house whodunit highlighting an array of delightfully suspicious Brits along with a zany cover-up attempt for a murder. Agatha Christie spins a web of deceit that will intrigue and entertain with a spark of comedy featuring engaging characters and witty dialogue. She proves again that a web of deceit can be humorous yet fatal.
This fascinating comedy thriller was written specifically for the stage in 1954 for the then popular actress Margaret Lockhart. In TAP’s production, the time is the present and this classic play easily lends itself to 2013. Although the play is an original piece, Agatha Christie employs four plot strategies from earlier works she had written. “Spider’s Web” intrigues with deceptions; any one of the characters could have done it or could they?
It’s an engaging comedy murder mystery directed by Jay Juppé and performed by the talented cast of Charley Baker, David Foster, Sharon Gilroy, Claire Gross, Norman Hackland, Raine Lewis, Leigh Marquess, Erik Murray, Casey Rauch, and Nina Quinn Wahl.
Other performances are Thrifty Thursday, February 7 at 7pm. Tickets are 2-for-1. Fridays & Saturdays, February 8, 9, 16, 22, & 23 at 8pm and Sundays, February 10, 17 & 24 at 2pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 students.
