The Bayside Conference Wrestling Championship was held in Cambridge this weekend and two local wrestlers took home repeat titles.
Easton High School’s Ben Culver took the 138 pound title to secure his third Bayside Conference win. Ben earned an 11-6 decision over Darren Streets from Parkside High School to take home the crown.
Brian Mister from St Michaels High School took top honors for the third time when he beat Andrew Borradile from Stephen Decatur in the 145 weight class. Brian is the first wrestler in school history to win three bayside titles, a feat his brother Stevie, nor State Champion, Jordan Gowe could attain during their years on the St Michaels wrestling squad. Brian attributed the help he received from Stevie, who is now an assistant coach under Sean Smith at St Michaels for his success on the mat.
Another local wrestler, Kyle Pepper, had an outstanding year at St Michaels but unfortunately lost in the final round to Matt Olauson from the Lions who won his second Bayside Championship.
