Historic Home of Compton to be Discussed at Library
On Monday, September 22, at 6:00 p.m., in the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library, Barton Ross and Cindy Schmidt present a study of the Stevens family lands and their Talbot County home of Compton at Grubin Neck. Samuel Stevens (1778-1860) was the 18th Governor of Maryland.
Barton Ross is an award-winning preservation architect and city planner whose work has included master plans for the Virginia State Capitol, Vermont State Capitol, the World Trade Center in NY, the United States Capitol, and Princeton University. He has worked on James Madison’s brick rowhouse in Philadelphia, Benjamin Moore’s home in New Jersey, the John James Audubon house in Key West, Florida, and the Charles Carroll House in Annapolis. Cindy Schmidt is a Talbot County native with over thirty years of experience as a genealogical researcher with a specific expertise in the Eastern Shore’s local history. She is currently the administrator of The Upper Eastern Shore of Maryland Genealogy online research group, the lead Land Researcher for The Hill Community Project and does independent land research under “Let the Land Tell the Story.”

Library Book Group to Discuss “The Signature of All Things”
On Monday, September 22, at 6:30 p.m., in the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library, the library book group will host a discussion of Elizabeth Gilbert’s novel “The Signature of All Things.” Library book group is open to all. St. Michaels Library to Offer Family Fall Crafts
On Tuesday, September 23, at 3:00 p.m., the St. Michaels branch of the Talbot County Free Library invites children of all ages to come learn the craft of creating a journal.
