Congresswomen Donna Edwards will be the featured speaker at the Talbot County Democratic Women’s Club Annual Meeting on June 7. Rep. Edwards, a four-term congresswoman, represents Maryland’s 4th Congressional District, comprising portions of Prince George’s and Anne Arundel Counties. Edwards is the first African-American woman to represent Maryland in Congress. She is also a candidate for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Barbara Mikulski. The race for the nomination between Rep. Edwards and Rep. Chris van Hollen has already been the subject of a lengthy article in the New York Times magazine (5/17/15). According to the New York Times “…she is viewed as a warrior for liberal causes.” She has also been described by groups supporting her as “a true Elizabeth Warren Democrat.” This is a great opportunity to listen to and meet this dynamic candidate.
The annual meeting takes place on June 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the Senior Center, 400 Brookletts Ave. in Easton. Refreshments will be served.
The event is free and open to everyone. For more information contact Joyce Scharch at 410-310-0821.
