The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, Md. is seeking volunteers to help with the annual OysterFest on Saturday, October 29. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and draws more than 2,500 guests to St. Michaels.
The festival features live music, oysters and other food, children’s activities, boat rides, oystering demonstrations, harvesting displays, retriever demonstrations, cooking demonstrations, and oyster stew competition among regional chefs.
Volunteer needs include helping with registration, information tables, the oyster stew competition, boat ride sign-ups, and more. Volunteers are also needed to help welcome guests and monitor festival entrances. Length of shifts vary, with all allowing time to attend the festival, as all OysterFest volunteers receive free festival admission for the entire day.

Admission to OysterFest is $5 for CBMM adult members, free for children five years and under, or $18 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $6 for children between the ages of six and 17. Food and boat rides are an additional cost. For safety reasons, non-service dogs are prohibited at CBMM festivals.
Free parking will be at St. Michaels’ schools, with free shuttle service running through 5:00 p.m. Credit cards are accepted for admission at the gate, with festival-goers encouraged to bring cash for food and vendors. For more information, visit www.cbmm.org/oysterfest or call 410-745-4941.
