Women interested in advancing their woodworking techniques are invited to craft their own wooden stool in a four-day workshop at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. The class takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, October 10-11 and October 17-18, with class size limited and advanced registration needed.
Women shipwrights will lead participants in the building process, focusing on the importance of layout and good joinery, while deepening participant’s understanding of the building process. The stools will be constructed out of poplar, with all basic tools and materials provided as part of the registration fee.
Participants need some woodworking experience and must be 16 years of age or older, unless accompanied by an adult. The cost for the workshop includes the take-home stool and is $225 for CBMM members and $250 for non-members. To register, contact [email protected] or call 410-745-4941.
