WOW! To Perform “Our Town” During Plein-Air Easton

July 18, 2013 by The Spy

Wye Operetta Workshop (WOW!) is pleased to announce that their 2013 summer production, Thornton Wilder’s renowned play, Our Town, will be performed during the Plein Air–Easton! Competition & Arts Festival. This beloved play was first produced and published in 1938, and has become a classic. Set in the small village of Grover’s Corners, it is an allegorical representation of all life. On this 75th anniversary year of the Pulitzer Prize winning drama, WOW! will take a brief respite from operetta to recreate life in Grover’s Corners on the stage of the historic Avalon Theatre.

WOW! is an annual summer program that is free to its participants, and open to all young adults, grades 8 through college. Past WOW! performances include Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe, Pirates of Penzance, and H.M.S. Pinafore. WOW! is directed by Bonnie Forgacs of Denton, MD.  Ms. Forgacs is a graduate of Curtis Institute of Music, and has 24 opera roles in her repertoire, including a debut performance at Carnegie Hall with the Opera Orchestra of New York. Each year, the WOW! cast is coached in acting, professionally staged and costumed, and always met with a full audience.

Performance dates for Our Town are July 19 and 20 at 7:30pm and July 21 at 4pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and children, and will be available at the door. All performances are handicap accessible.  For more information, please call 410-603-8361.
