Ever wonder what our community teenagers are thinking? Y-Talks welcomes Russ Brasher, area director of Young Life to let you in on their secrets. Russ devotes his career to getting personal with our kids. He hosts the Young Life events, clubs, camps but also coaches football for Easton High School. Through all his various walks, he is in touch and in tune with what is happening on the front lines in our teens lives.
Young Life asserts that it doesn’t start with a program. It starts with adults concerned enough about kids to go to them, on their turf and in their culture, building bridges of authentic friendship. These relationships don’t happen overnight — they take time, patience, trust and consistency. Young Life believes in the power of presence. Because their leader believes in them, they begin to see that their lives have great worth, meaning and purpose.
The YMCA of the Chesapeake hosts these speakers to bring their stories to share with you, in the warm environment by the rock wall in in the Thomas E. Hill Center for Youth Development, also known as the Teen Center. Enjoy a cup of Joe from program sponsor Joe’s Bagel Café. Join us to hear more of what Russ is experiencing from our teens and share ways we can be positive solutions in their lives, Wednesday, March 11th at 10:30 AM at the Easton YMCA.
