It’s easy to imagine that the personnel that work at the Easton Airport tower are from someplace else. Highly trained, with most flight controllers coming into the field after years in the military, it would make sense that Easton’s traffic cops of the sky would find themselves in Talbot County through the typical process of career development rather than the desire for a specific geographic location.
That is why the Spy was intrigued when we heard that Micah Risher, born in Easton and raised in Trappe, had made it a point to come back to the Talbot County airport to once again become the tower manager after four years working at the FAA’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.
In his Spy interview from the havely sunscreened control tower last week, Micah talks about his career in aviation, his love for the small town feel of the Easton Airport, but also the critical importance the local community airport plays in the nation’s national security system with its prime location just 53 miles from the Lincoln Memorial.
This video is approximately three minutes in length. For more information about the Easton Airport please go here
