As a seventy-year-old, cancer patient who lacks the knowledge and ability to change a tire, this week, two remarkable young people came to my rescue upon hearing a horrific sound outside of their office, Mariner Finance.
Unfortunately, I hit a curb upon entering the Giant shopping center and greatly damaged my tire causing a loud and alarming sound that alerted those in the vicinity. Before I had the chance to leave my car to exam the results of this mishap, a young lady, Kristy (her first day at her job) ran to the car and proceeded to estimate the damage and the needed intervention. On her heels came a young man, Nathan, the office manager, who rapidly assisted in the restoration of this damaged wheel.
Within a brief period, my tire was replaced and my stress diminished due to the emotional support and competency of these two extraordinary angels. They refused compensation and stated that anyone would have done this. Not so! Since some people are not that compassionate and attentive as these young people. Indeed, I did send a letter of commendation to their company CEO informing him of the outstanding character of his employees.
This experience did enlighten my perception of the existence and the numbers of earth angels, particularly our youth who are unfairly discriminated for negative and, at times, illegal behaviors. I will “Pay it Forward” and touch the life of another with a gift of support and assistance. Yes, there is “someone to watch over you” in times of stress and neediness.
