On Saturday, December 3, at 2:00 p.m. the St. Michaels branch of the Talbot County Free Library will present a discussion on the Semester at Sea program. The speaker will be Dr. Matthew Fitzgerald, a member of the Alumni Board of Directors with the Semester at
Sea program.
Dr. Fitzgerald, who lives in Easton, has had three children participate in the Semester at Sea program and will speak about their experience and the program in general. A video about the program will be shared. Semester at Sea is the only study abroad program of its kind in the world. Since 1963, Semester at Sea (www.semesteratsea.org) has transformed a ship into a traveling campus where undergraduates, lifelong learners, faculty, and lecturers live and learn together while circumnavigating the globe each fall and spring semester. Every May and summer term are devoted to exploring a world region. Credit earned is fully transferable by the University of Virginia. Semester at Sea is a pioneer and leader in global comparative studies a unique, comparative studies focus.
Dr. Fitzgerald works as a liaison for the parents of students going abroad, supporting the program, serving as a resource for parents, hosting and speaking at special events.
