Talbot Thrive, a local non-profit which advocates for safer walking and bicycling access in Talbot County, presented a questionnaire to candidates running for the Talbot County Council or General Assembly on the July 19 primary ballot. The questionnaire asks candidates to share their positions and support for safe, comfortable, and complete walking and bicycling conditions in the County, such as reducing posted speed limits in town, shared bicycle lanes and funding for sidewalks.
To date, 14 candidates have completed the questionnaire. Their responses are available to review at www.talbotthrive.org/candidates.
“We are hopeful that we will get 100% participation in the questionnaire,” said Talbot Thrive Board member Richard Marks. “As the need for safer and more complete places for people to bike and walk in the County is a high priority, we want to ensure our elected officials are aware of the mission of Talbot Thrive.” The table below shows who has completed the questionnaire and who has not yet responded:

Talbot Thrive, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) that promotes healthy and safe outdoor mobility for everyone living, working, and visiting Talbot County. A group of passionate County residents formed the organization in the summer 2021, as a result of concerted efforts to create more focus on active transportation on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay, beginning with a meeting of governments and organization on April 30, 2021. Those attending from Talbot County agreed to form an organization. Founding members include Richard Marks, David Fike, Bill Boicourt, Heather Grant, Andrew Bernish, Shannon Vaughn, and Carol Kachadoorian.
