Brookletts Place – Talbot Senior Center Parking Lot Expansion Project

Thirteen new parking spaces

Talbot County is pleased to announce the completion of the parking lot expansion project at Brookletts Place – Talbot Senior Center.  Thirteen new parking spaces along with stormwater management features and new plantings were included with the capital project at a cost of approximately $230,000 which also included land acquisition costs, engineering, and permitting through the Town of Easton.  Lane Engineering, LLC served as the engineer for the project under the guidance of the Talbot County Department of Public Works.  Duvall Brothers, Inc. served as the contractor.  A ribbon cutting for the project was held on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 with dignitaries and guests in attendance.

Additionally, the National Council on Aging has proclaimed September as National Senior Center Month with this year’s theme being strengthening community connections.  Childlene Brooks, Manager, Brookletts Place and Ann DeMart, Manager, Bay Hundred Senior Center attended the Council meeting on September 13, 2022 to provide an update on various programs being offered throughout the month of September at both Brookletts Place and the Bay Hundred Senior Center to improve the lives of senior citizens in Talbot County.  A community panel discussion entitled “Getting Back Out There – How to Re-Engage After the Pandemic” will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 29 at Brookletts Place, 400 Brookletts Avenue in Easton.  The presentation will explore elder abuse and social isolation, as well as how to re-engage seniors as a result of the pandemic. Ms. Brooks stated, “Thank you Council. We are so grateful for all you have done to support our efforts.”
