The Allegro Children’s Chorus will be in concert Saturday, May 19, at 6:30 pm at Trinity Cathedral, 315 Goldsborough Street. The ensemble will be presenting their spring program, “I Will Sing,” featuring songs about singers and music-making directed by Amy Morgan with piano accompaniment by Lyn Banghart.
The Allegro Children’s Chorus (grades 4-7) and Vocal Scholars (grades 8-college) represent young vocalists from Maryland’s Mid-Shore communities, with participants from Caroline, Talbot, Dorchester, and Queen Anne’s counties. Singers gather weekly throughout the academic year to develop musicianship and vocal technique. The ensemble’s inaugural 2017-2018 season included performances at the Talbot Hospice Festival of Trees, St. Paul’s church in Oxford, the Maryland Statehouse, and other private events.
The Children’s Chorus and Vocal Scholars are programs of the Allegro Academy, established in 2017, whose mission is to offer exceptional music education and performance experiences to the greater Talbot County Area, and to make these offerings affordable to all.The Academy brings together musicians — from beginning students to the best local and international artists — through workshops, lessons, ensembles, and public performances, enriching the lives of musicians and enthusiasts of all ages and incomes.Need-based scholarships are offered to all participants of the chorus and vocal scholar programs.
