The Eastern Shore Area Health Education Center (ESAHEC) is sponsoring a conference titled, “Promoting Quality of Life through Effective Communication with Older Adults” on Friday, March 27, 2020 from 8:00am-12:30pm in English Hall at the Eastern Shore Hospital Center in Cambridge, MD.
The workshop-style event will teach attendees how to recognize factors that negatively impact medical and non-medical communication and utilize communication strategies that effectively enhance interactions with older adults. Therapeutic communication will also be discussed, including how to use it with people diagnosed with dementia and those resistant to care.
Guest presenter will be Dr. Diane Martin, Director of the Geriatrics and Gerontology Education and Research Program (GGEAR) and Senior Lecturer at University of Maryland-Baltimore.
This is an excellent professional development or continuing education opportunity for professional and community health care workers, social workers, case managers and caregivers.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are authorized by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners.
