Comedic Singer-Songwriter Deirdre Flint will bring her musical tales about cheerleaders, bridesmaids gone-bad and The Great Metric Takeover Attempt of 1975 to the Second Sunday Coffeehouse at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Sunday, January 8, 2012. The show
starts at 6:30PM
Flint’s performances hang out at the intersection where stand-up comedy and folk music collide. Her music has been heard on TLC and the shows What Not To Wear, and FX’s Nip/Tuck. She’s played The Kerrville Folk Festival and The Kennedy Center.
Billboard Magazine says Flint, “… plays grow-up satire with a non-cynical wink.” Though mainly a show for adults (children just don’t seem to understand the agony of having to buy a twelfth bridesmaid dress), Sing Out Magazine remarks, “Her sense of humor is suitable for family listening and she pokes fun of life as it is lived. “
Flint is a former elementary school teacher who taught herself guitar in order to write humorous songs about American History for her fifth grade students. That lead to a career as a singer/songwriter and Flint joined the The Four Bitchin’ Babes in 2005, a group started twenty years ago by Christine Lavin.
