On Tuesday, June 5 the Academy for Lifelong Learning CBMM will sponsor a bus trip and docent led tour to The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA near Washington Dulles International Airport. The center is the companion facility to the National Air and Space Museum on the National Mall. The building provides enough space for the Smithsonian to display the thousands of aviation and space artifacts that cannot be exhibited on the National Mall.

The Center, the new home of the Space Shuttle Discovery, displays in the large Boeing Aviation and James S. McDonnell Space Hangars include the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird and the Boeing B-29 Superfortress Enola Gay airplanes. In addition, the Donald D. Engen Observation Tower provides an excellent location from which visitors can watch air traffic at Dulles Airport. Other visitor services at The Center include the Airbus IMAX Theater, flight simulators, food service, and a museum store.

The Bus will depart from the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum visitor parking lot, St. Michaels, MD, at 8:00am and should arrive back at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum by 5:00pm.
