The Allegro Children’s Chorus will be in concert Sunday, December 9, at 2:00 pm at the historic St. Paul’s church in Oxford, 225 South Morris Street. The ensemble will be presenting a holiday program featuring new and old favorites in the beautifully restored venue.
The Allegro Children’s Chorus is a community ensemble for singers in grades 4-12 whose members represent Caroline, Talbot, Dorchester, and Queen Anne’s counties. Singers gather weekly throughout the academic year under the direction of Amy Morgan, Allegro Academy Artistic Director, to develop musicianship and vocal technique while preparing for seasonal and community events. The ensemble’s inaugural 2017-2018 season included performances at the Talbot Hospice Festival of Trees, St. Paul’s church in Oxford, Trinity Cathedral, the Maryland Statehouse, and other private events.
The Children’s Chorus is a program of Allegro Academy, established in 2017, whose mission is to offer exceptional music education and performance experiences to the greater Talbot County Area and to make these offerings affordable to all.The Academy brings together musicians — from beginning students to the best local and international artists — through workshops, lessons, ensembles, and public performances.Need-based scholarships are offered to all participants of the chorus.
