The Allegro Women’s Chorus will be presenting its premier performance free to the public on Friday, March 8 at 7:00 pm. All are invited to the concert event at Trinity Cathedral, 315 Goldsborough Street, Easton. The program will feature music by Edvard Grieg, newly arranged chant from Hildegard of Bingen, Welch songwriter Anne Lister, and contemporary composer Sarah Quartel. Snow Angel, by Quartel, is an evocative five-movement choral work that explores themes of love, rebirth, and beauty through the eyes of children and the heavenly army of angels that watch over them, yearning to make a difference to their lives. It will be accompanied by Lyn Banghart, piano and Carey Miller, cello. The program will also feature Merideth Buxton, violin and Chillian Cuthbert-Emon, percussionist. Allegro Women’s Chorus, formed in the spring of 2019, is a 14-voice ensemble featuring singers from the Talbot County area and is directed by Amy Morgan, Allegro Academy Artistic Director.
Allegro Women’s Chorus is a program of Allegro Academy and is funded by the Maryland State and Talbot County Arts Councils. The mission of Allegro Academy is to offer exceptional music education and performance experiences to the greater Talbot County Area and to make these offerings affordable to all.
