New roof added to Allen & Marshall Auctioneers and Appraisers newest location in Trappe.

Allen & Marshall Auctioneers and Appraisers LLC (Allen & Marshall) announces its recent purchase of Nelson Auctions located in Trappe, Md. The former Nelson Auction Gallery becomes Allen & Marshall’s third location on the Eastern Shore and will be Delmarva’s first online-only auction house. The former Nelson Auction Gallery originally opened in 1953 and was Talbot County’s first and was the Mid-Shore’s oldest auction facility. Nelson’s was very well-known for its weekly Monday night auctions that were held for decades. Online and estate auctions at the Trappe location will launch in July 2016 as currently the building is under complete renovation.

Allen & Marshall’s President Doug Marshall said that the new location represents a new kind of auction. “Allen & Marshall Auctioneers has been the industry leader in Maryland in new auction technology. Our Trappe location will focus on online estate auctions, real estate and business asset auctions.” Marshall continued, “we will still have monthly on-site auctions here, but the primary focus is the online auctions. Also, the Trappe location offers a geographic advantage to us as we are on the Mid-Shore. Our network of auction houses will be a very valuable resource for those who work with us as we are leaders in asset marketing. Our distribution model of products from online sales is one that is highly efficient because of this.” Doug Marshall shares that he is excited about the new opportunity also because he has a strong history with this Talbot County landmark as Ira Nelson, who started Nelson Auction’s, was his grandfather, and Doug worked at the auction house growing up. His parent’s are graduates of Easton High School and his mother even grew up in the apartment that was housed within the auction house.
