Musicians Eva Cappelletti Chao and Philippe Chao will present an evening of violin and viola duets Thursday, July 2nd at 7pm in the Sanctuary at Oxford’s Church of the Holy Trinity. Equally at home in large theaters and intimate gatherings, this duo’s performances have been hailed for the excellence of the musical presentation. These artists create an open and inviting flow that transcends the barrier between performer and audience.
Violinist Eva Cappelletti Chao and violist Philippe Chao have been sharing their collaborative music-making with appreciative audiences around the U.S. for well over a decade. They have played around the mid-Atlantic region as well as in music festivals around the country in roles ranging from concerto soloists and recitalists to chamber music coaches, masterclass teachers, competition judges and private instructors.
The duo has been featured on live radio and has received several compositions as personal gifts. When not performing together, Eva and Philippe each enjoy thriving careers performing with ensembles at the Kennedy Center and teaching school-age and university students. Phillipe is in his seventeenth year as a tenured member of the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra. Eva is also first violinist for the group QuinTango. Last November, she had the honor of playing at the White House for the PBS program Special Salute to the Troops, performing solo violin with the King of Bachata Romeo Santos. Most recently, through the organization A Musical Heart, Eva plays violin for Hospice patients, which she finds most fulfilling.
Oxford’s Church of the Holy Trinity considers itself fortunate to have such exceptional musicians be special friends of the church. Please bring a friend and enjoy this free concert. For more information, visit holytrinityoxfordmd.org.
