With summer heating up, it’s time to cool down with some good all-acoustic music this weekend at the Avalon Saturday night when the Bruit from Baltimore, MD hits town.
Bruit (brü-e) takes their name from the French word for “noise” or “rumor”. As in: “a [music] that captures the thunderous fury of medieval warfare and the bruit of a thousand clashing swords.”
Bruit plays standards from the Great American Songbook as well some of the most popular songs from the 20th century with a vibrant and energetic acoustic touch, often infusing pop and rock tunes with a jazzier edge.
Bruit loves what they do! They deliver a sophisticated, passionate performance that is both authentic and modern, original, and not easily forgotten!
Bruit is comprised of former UMBC music students who share a love for performing some of the best songs ever written and in a style all their own. Each member also performs with various acts in the Baltimore/DC area including Yo No Say, Psycho Killers: Talking Heads Tribute, and Brooks Long & The Mad Dog No Good.
Jacqueline Morgia is a vocalist and percussionist who studied Music at UMBC as a Linehan Artist Scholar. She has been performing for 27 years. Her sultry vocal stylings convey a unique and genuine approach to renditions of classic tunes.
Eric Brightfield began playing guitar at the age of 14, but you’d think he was born with it in his hand. He has degrees in Guitar Performance and Composition from UMBC as a Linehan Artist Scholar. His style of playing is eclectic, to say the least; always imaginative and exuberant.
Joe Martone has been playing the bass for 18 years. He holds a degree and post-grad certificate in Composition from UMBC. His playing maintains the groups forward drive yet remains soulful and expressive.
