It looks like the new display at the River House on Rt. 33 for Memorial Day is going to be even bigger and better than ever before.
This morning, crews were installing a variety of exciting elements on that lawn that we all love to stop and visit several times each year.
The theme appears to be honoring Memorial Day, and so far, there’s a helicopter, an army tank, and a submarine emerging from the lawn, apparently having crashed through the fence at the edge of the estate.
With appreciation for the people at River House who entertain and inspire us each season, we’ll eagerly watch to see the full display by the end of the week.

My Fellow Citizens,
I live in Bozman and find myself passing this property nearly every day. While I too have found the displays created here to be interesting and executed with creativity and very high quality, I worry they are bit too interesting for our collective health. I have witnessed adults and children crossing two lanes of traffic while cars traveling in both directions try to make their way safely past. The speed limit on this road is 50 mph and while drivers approaching this area may see cars by the side of the road and slow down, the situation still looks to me to be very dangerous.
I am willing to wager if the owner of this property placed a video recorder to view the traffic situation he is creating for just one day, he would find himself frightened as well. I would ask him to please restrain his well-intentioned efforts so we don’t need to deal with the aftermath of any injuries or deaths.

Well, let’s ask the county and/or SHA to place those small trailers with flashing lights and a slow-down-caution message on both sides of the road. You’re right – there’s always a lot of traffic, and dangerous too. But let’s not ask the owner to change what he’s doing, let’s be responsive ourselves.

In case you were in too much of a hurry to read Jeff’s post, here’s The Reader’s Digest version:
People are dumb and careless, so this display shouldn’t be there.
