We’re highlighting family activities this weekend, starting with a Friday night hike complete with s’mores and (maybe) some scary stories, to a creative Saturday morning in St. Michael’s Muskrat Park. (Mom and Dad can peruse the Farmers’ Market while the kids are happily engaged.) And who doesn’t like lighthouses ? No need to visit all of the Challenge lights to participate in this educational and fun-filled event, and the lighthouses can be visited in any order.

Friday, September 16, 6 to 9 pm: Best Night Hike Ever at Pickering Creek Audubon Center What is your fondest memory of being outside past sunset? The Pickering Creek naturalists discussed this question and came up with a list of their favorites for this Best Night Hike Ever. Walk through a field lit by fireflies, call in owls, head out on a starlit paddle down Pickering Creek and settle in by the campfire for s’mores and storytelling. We’ll do them all as we discover the ‘afterhours’ side of Pickering Creek. Fun for children and/or adults!

Pickering Creek Audubon Society Main Office, 11450 Audubon Lane, Easton, Md  21620

Cost: $50/adult; $25/child
REGISTRATION REQUIRED – FUN’d raising program

Saturday, September 17 , 9  to 11 am:  Children’s Art Day at Muskrat Park This annual event is sponsored by the St. Michaels Art League to interest local elementary school children in the arts.   Each year over 20 budding artists eagerly grab some brushes, paints and a canvas and set about creating a masterpiece (or two).   Throughout the morning the children are assisted by local artists from the  St. Michaels Art League, who provide materials as well. For all kids grades 1 through 5. Introduce your child to the experience of ART through acrylic painting.
