Get ready, the festival season begins in earnest this weekend. Saturday is Oxford Day as well the first day of the much-anticipated St Michaels WineFest. Apparently the VIP Sunday cruise on the Patriot is sold out, and there are only a few 2 day tickets with the Saturday cruise available- act fast if you want to sip & cruise- but there are plenty of other wine tasting venues. You could do both Oxford and St Michaels in one day; catch the Oxford parade at 11, and then go to St Michaels, but why not spread them out and enjoy a leisurely day at each event ?
Someone at the NightCat was quite clever, (who could that be ?) and booked the Makin’ Whoopie Show for Saturday night. The act is described as a comedy about wine & sex..the ultimate pairing; the troupe includes Laurie Forster, The Stand-up Sommelier.
Sunday evening, New Orleans’ favorite son, the R&B, pop, and gospel singer Aaron Neville will be at the Avalon Theatre. He is the third of four brothers in the musical powerhouse Neville Brothers, has been performing since the 1960’s, and nominated for a Grammy in the country, R&B, pop and gospel genres.
