House Beautiful, a leading national shelter magazine, recently published an online article naming the best designed hotels in every state. A project by Bountiful Interiors, The Bellmoor Inn & Spa, was chosen as the best designed hotel in Delaware. Bountiful completed a total redesign and renovation of the 78-room Rehoboth Beach hotel in April 2018. House Beautiful chose the Bellmoor’s library as the cover photo for its article.
The Bountiful Interiors design team was tasked with redesigning nearly every space within the hotel, including the lobby, library, lounge, conference spaces, breakfast room, and guest rooms. The goal of the redesign was to create spaces that were modern and elegant, while remaining true to the hotel’s history and beloved reputation.
“The Bellmoor Inn is truly iconic,” said Jamie Merida, owner of Bountiful Interiors. “There are guests who have been visiting The Bellmoor for years. It was very important to create spaces that made them feel comfortable and familiar, even after everything had been completely redesigned and was very style-forward. That was by far the biggest challenge of this project.”
Bountiful’s lead designer for the project was Amanda Friend, who incorporated an elegant, coastal-inspired color palette of soft blues and grays throughout the hotel. Fabrics and furnishings were chosen that had contemporary elements integrated with classic design. This gave a nod to The Bellmoor’s long tradition as a Rehoboth Beach institution, while creating a feeling of freshness and modernity throughout the property.
“The Bellmoor Inn & Spa’s tenure as one of Rehoboth Beach’s longest standing properties was rejuvenated with this beautiful redesign,” said Ben Gray, the hotel’s General Manager. “Bountiful Interiors was able to marry The Bellmoor’s historic charm with modern, sophisticated design. Our owners, the Moore family, want the Inn to be a home away from home, a luxurious escape from everyday life. I’m happy to say that hasn’t changed at all with the redesign; if anything, it has been enhanced for years to come.”
Another challenge in the project was renovating a hotel that was open to guests through part of the construction and installation. Bountiful’s staff worked closely with The Bellmoor to manage timelines and logistics. This included removal of all of the original furnishings and accents from the hotel. The Bellmoor’s owners agreed to donate these items to the local Habitat Re-Store, and Bountiful’steam coordinated and executed the delivery.
“We always look for opportunities to donate items that are being replaced in our projects,” said Merida. “Not only does this help local families, it’s the environmentally friendly thing to do. We try to minimize landfill waste as much as possible.”

I know that others join me in being so proud to have Jamie Merida, an artist and the proprietor of Bountiful in our community. Jamie and the Bountiful team, just won two prestigious awards in his field: this one for artistic and tasteful renewal of the interior of The Bellmore Inn into which we recently peeked and in January an ARTS Award from the premier international award program for the home industry. Bountiful is the most beautiful store environment on the Eastern Shore and perhaps the region. It is a feast for the eye while featuring decor from casual to sophisticated. We are so fortunate to have it right here! And Jamie is also a wonderful example of philanthropy – helping to raise funds for a variety of non-profits. Congratulations, Jamie and thank you.
