Wendy Rosen, Democratic candidate for the 1st Congressional District, shocked supporters this afternoon by announcing her decision to withdraw from the race. In an email to party officials, Rosen cited personal reasons for her withdrawal.
“I have been proud to serve as the Democratic Congressional Candidate of Maryland’s 1st Congressional District for the last five months, so it is with great regret, and much sorrow that I must resign.
Personal issues have made this the hardest decision that I have had to make.
The First Congressional District deserves a representative that champions their interests, votes for, not against job creation, and builds sustainable economy for agriculture, tourism, small businesses on every main street from Pokomoke to Taneytown. That is not Andy Harris — who only represents himself.
I will be reflecting my time spent getting to know my state so much better. I have fallen in love with the eastern shore and learned so much about the issues and the economic crisis that still hangs over so many of us.
I intend to continue my efforts to advocate for small businesses throughout the United States and to be a voice for the Made in American movement.
Sincerely,
Wendy Rosen”

To state my feelings most concisely, Bummer. And it had to have been a pretty serious reason for her to have withdrawn. I am sorry and I commend her for taking care of herself or her family first.
