“Human dignity and improving the quality of life for people who are neglected, abused or simply overlooked has always been important to Carlton Spitzer” notes the Reverend Dave Seymour, President of the disAbility Coalition of Talbot County.
The Coalition is proud to announce that Spitzer will be the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual awards luncheon scheduled for June 5th at the William Hill Manor Auditorium.
Many Talbot residents know Spitzer for his column in the local paper, Keeping Pace. Less known, is that under Spitzer’s leadership, what used to be the Talbot County Committee for People with Disabilities became the disAbility Coalition in 2004.
Awards will also be given for an individual and an organization demonstrating leadership in promoting positive change for people with disabilities. Nominees are Channel Marker, Special Riders of Talbot County, Chesapeake Center, Dana Fortenot of Elizabeth Claire Salon, and Candace Henry of the Division of Rehabilitation (DORS).
Community members interested in showing support are welcome to attend. Seating is limited. For details and to RSVP, contact Kelley Malone at 410-634-2115 ext. 1320 or email at [email protected].
