Five crab pickers were hard at work this morning in McDaniel, at Bay Hundred Seafood. With oysters on the dock, phones ringing and crabs being picked inside, it was a busy morning at Bay Hundred. Chef Mark Salter was spied loading the trunk of his car with fresh oysters, as trucks backed up to the dock.
The Virginia blue crab season started strong on March 19th, with reports of a larger than normal early harvest. March is typically a slow month for the crab harvest, but with warm air temperatures since November, the waters of the Bay remained warmer than usual.
