The Easton Business Alliance is happy to announce the success of their first Moonlight Madness event in nearly ten years. Friday, December 2 marked the the town’s resurrection of Moonlight Madness, an all-night event with music, refreshments, pictures with Santa, and the chance for patrons to win one of three prizes, each worth over $1,700.
“Anytime that we can get our local community shopping downtown and with our independent merchants, it’s a good thing,” Easton Business Alliance manager Ross Benincasa said. “And if we can do with a little Christmas spirit thrown in, even better.”
The night kicked off at 4 p.m. with local favorite Justin Ryan performing outside Thompson Park. In addition, WCEI’s Matt Spence emceed the event and played Christmas music all night long in front of the Tidewater Inn on Harrison St. The EBA’s annual Pictures with Santa took place at the Bullitt House, home to the Mid-Shore Community Foundation, during Moonlight Madness, and Rise Up Coffee and Bartlett Pear had free refreshments across downtown for busy shoppers to stay warm throughout the night.
The event was capped off by three large raffles, each worth over $1,700, at 9 p.m. in front of the Tidewater Inn. The baskets included free meals at local restaurants, gift cards to Easton’s fine boutiques, and a one-night stay at Easton’s Fairfield Inn & Suites.
“We couldn’t have done this event without our many community partners and participating businesses,” Benincasa said. “The carolers from Easton High School, the snow falling from the Avalon, and the events in each of our small businesses really made this come together and helped Easton stand out as a top holiday destination.”
