AAUW Easton and Salisbury AAUW will hold a public meeting on the organization’s national and international grants and fellowships program on Saturday, November 4. Women pursuing relevant graduate education and non-profit organizations promoting equal treatment and opportunities for women and girls may apply for such support. The program will be held at the Dorchester County Public Library, 303 Gay Street, Cambridge, MD at 10:00 am in the large room below the main library. Parking is available near the rear entrance.
Gloria Blackwell, National Vice President of AAUW Fellowships, Grants and Global Programs, will speak, and the recipient of a recent national fellowship will discuss how AAUW has helped her. Ms. Blackwell will also describe AAUW’s career development workshops. $tart $mart assists women graduates with starting pay, while Work Smart helps mid-career women strive for equal pay with male colleagues with similar expertise and experience.
In 2018 Easton AAUW will celebrate 60 years of helping mid-shore women. The nationwide AAUW network of 100,000 members, 1300 branches, and 500 college and university partners has been a leading advocate for equity and education for women and girls since 1881. AAUW (The American Association of University Women) engages with such issues as equal pay, reducing barriers to women entering higher paying STEM careers, and opposing sexual harassment. The group promotes laws that protect women at home, in schools, in the workplace and conducts invaluable research on women’s political, social, and economic situations.
