University of Maryland Memorial Hospital Foundation will host an informative seminar, “Elder Care Planning Tips and Traps: How to Meet Taxes, Family Goals & Long-Term Care Costs” on Thursday, September 22, 5:30-7:00 p.m., at the Talbot County Free Library in Easton.
Guest presenters will include Ann Karwacki Goodman of Parker Goodman Gordon& Hammock, LLC and Billy Weber of Billy D. Weber & Associates. Presented in a non-sales environment, seminar topics will include an overview of funding concepts — including spend down, asset transfer and traditional products — to pay for long-term care. Presenters also will offer a detailed explanation of long-term care hybrid life insurance products and important provisions, and will discuss the importance of tax planning; when a trust might be needed and Maryland’s new Medical Order for Life Sustaining Treatment (MOLST) form.
