Midshore Riverkeeper Conservancy, in partnership with Chesapeake College, Town Creek Foundation, and the Center for Leadership in Environmental Education (CLEEn), is proud to present, for one night only, This Changes Everything, a film written and narrated by Naomi Klein.
The film will be screened on Friday, January 22 at Chesapeake College’s Todd Performing Arts Center. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The program will begin at 6:00 p.m. with introductions of panelists, two of whom attended the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP 21), which came to a close on December 11th in Paris. Following the film, panelists will participate in a question and answer session to help us assess and interpret the Paris climate change agreement.
Guest panelists will include Arjun Makhijani from the Institute for Energy and Environmental Research, Kathryn Zyla, deputy director of the Georgetown Climate Center, and Janet Redman (invited), director of the Climate Policy Program at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, DC. The panel will be moderated by Stuart Clarke, executive director of Town Creek Foundation.
An impressive gathering of 200 countries, COP 21 has created a historic agreement to limit global climate change to 2˚C. This film screening and discussion will be a great opportunity for the audience to hear first-hand from conference participants how to interpret the agreement and what it means to nations, economies, and global citizens. Taken together, the movie and COP 21 challenge us to remake the global economy to avoid unmanageable changes in the global environment.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Sarah Boynton at Midshore Riverkeeper Conservancy at 443-385-0511 or email [email protected].
