There’s no need to wait till spring for fresh organic produce – Easton Market Square still has a few market stands open on Saturday mornings. Jay Martin of Provident Organic Farm brings a truckload of produce to Easton each Saturday. He sold chard, lettuces, potatoes, beets, leeks, greens and more outdoors this morning on the Harrison St. side of Easton Market Square.
“This warm winter has been great for us”, Martin said. The crops he’s harvesting now were sown in October, and continue to produce. He farms a total of four acres, with some greenhouse production in the style of Eliot Coleman, in Bivalve. Martin makes the 50 minute trip to Easton each Saturday, and will continue to offer fresh organic produce at Easton Market Square for the rest of the winter into spring.

Several weeks ago, I was giddy when I bought crimini mushrooms form Easton Market Square’s produce stand. I made a marvelous cream of mushroom soup from them. Good on Mr. Coleman and I’ll be back.

Could it be that you bought them from us, INSIDE the Market House? We hope so and we hope you will be back soon!

We are INSIDE the Easton Market House at Easton Market Square and have been for almost a year. We are still harvesting our own broccoli, kale (2 varieties), and cabbage and have 3 varieties of our apples available. We can’t call our greens organic but they have never been sprayed. We carry two varieties of mushrooms (crimini and portobello) that come directly from our farmer friend there in the mushroom capital of the world, Kennett Square, PA…
Until our asparagus is ready to harvest in April, we are purchasing crops from local producers to supplement our line. We have sugar snap peas from NC, beautiful hand picked green beans from FLA and so much more.
We also have a certified organic producer, Cotthingham Farms, inside the market house.
We are open Wed through Sat so that you can shop on your schedule and regardless of the weather. We are a 105 year old family farm that grows sustainably, including being the only solar powered Century Farm. We appreciate your support of our investment to provide our Easton friends with the best produce at the fairest prices and invite you to visit our farm to see the full line of crops we harvest from April thru… well, February.
