Fundraiser by St. Michaels Volunteer Fire Department and Blue Heron Coffee

March 19, 2021 by Spy Desk

Share

The St. Michaels Volunteer Fire Department and Blue Heron Coffee have partnered to create a new fundraiser designed to help finance the replacement of the department’s oldest running apparatus, Engine48. Proceeds from each bag of “Engine48 Coffee” will be donated to SMFD and can be found at the Blue Heron Coffee store, online at https://blueheroncoffeellc.ecwid.com, and any BBQ/fundraiser SMFD holds. The new Engine48 Coffee is scheduled to release in early April, 2021.

Today’s fire engines regularly exceed $450,000 and include upwards of 1000 Gallons of water, several thousand feed of supply line and attack hose, and equipment to allow firefighters to work inside several hundred degree temperatures. SMFD runs between 350-500 calls per year, and relies heavily on donations for capital purchases and monthly expenses. Creative fundraisers like this are integral to Talbot County Volunteer Fire Companies, who face increasing demands from residents amidst a shortage of volunteers and funding.

This Saturday, March 20th, there will be a tasting open to the community to determine the exact blend for Engine48 Coffee. SMFD will be at Blue Heron Coffee selling BBQ and the tasting/voting will be done between 1-2PM

For more information, please email [email protected] or visit Blue Heron Coffee, located at 500 S. Talbot St, St. Michaels, MD, 21663
