On Sunday, March 16 soprano Georgiann Gibson joined by the Christ Church Choir, the Christ Church Choral Scholars, and instrumental guests will present a concert of sacred music at 4:00 p.m. at Christ Church in Easton. The program will feature a host of favorites from oratorio to gospel including Mendelssohn’s “Hear Ye, Israel,” “Domine Deus” from Vivaldi’s Gloria, “He’s Got the Whole World in Hands,” “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child,” Jester Hairston’s rousing “He Never Failed Me Yet” and more!
This concert marks the seventh in a series of eight concerts presented by the Christ Church Concert Series. Filled with moments of exquisite beauty contrasting with rapturous energy, this is sure to be one of the season’s highlights and a concert one definitely shouldn’t miss!
Gibson, whose exquisite vocal beauty and tonal warmth is championed throughout the region, is a frequent soloist at the United States Naval Academy, Easton’s Christ Church and The Easton Choral Arts Society. Formerly a member of the Pittsburgh Opera Chorus and the Pittsburgh Symphony’s chorus of choice, the Mendelssohn Choir, she has sung under the batons of Lorin Maazel and Andre Previn. A member of the American Guild of Musical Artists, Gibson has appeared with the Annapolis Opera as Annina in Verdi’s, La Traviata and maintains a private voice studio in Easton.
This concert is sponsored in part by the Talbot County and Maryland State Arts Councils. The public is invited, and a free will offering will be received. A reception will be held following the concert.
