St. Michaels Art League will present “Getting Started in Acrylics,” a workshop with Patti Mollica on June 3, 4, and 5, 2014, for painters to learn a fun and expressive way to paint. Students will use big brushes, lots of acrylic paint and work in a bold, expressive manner. The focus will be not on what one paints but rather on how one paints it. All levels of skill are welcomed in this workshop.
Painters seeking to learn an approach to painting a simple still life in a fast and expressive style which focuses on capturing large shapes and lighting effect rather than on rendering small details will be encouraged to work quickly and decisively with as few brush strokes as possible and to use color intuitively and boldly. Each participant will finish several small painting in the span of the class time.
The classes will be held from 9:00 – 4:00 each day of the workshop at MEBA Engineering School.
Ms. Mollica is the author of “Modern Acrylics” and “Color Theory for Painters.” For more information and to register, visit www.stmichaelsartleague.org.
