Get out the vote. That’s what councilmembers Megan Cook, Al Silverstein and incumbent mayor Bob Willey are telling their supporters as town residents prepare to cast their ballots Tuesday. The ballot will also include Ward 1 and Ward 3 town council elections.
The Talbot Spy has covered this election extensively over the last few months and have compiled some of that content to help the undecided.

Wonderful opportunity to hear the candidates. Thank-you Avalon. Thank-you Spy. And thanks to Craig Fuller.
Comments:
Very disappointed to not hear the candidates say they would consider supporting a feasibility study on creating a walking plaza in the center of town. Al Silverstein shot it down without even a consideration referring to what did not work in Salisbury, a plaza created 40 years ago and not well thought through. Not sure how you make that leap without proper analysis. He also thought it would be too challenging to collect garbage.???? So, we have conversations on how to keep downtown vibrant, but we dismiss ideas without even consideration. Yes, the town tried to close one block on Washington Street during COVID and it was not well received by everyone, but that was due to a lack of planning not because it did not have merit. Megan Cook’s enthusiasm to create a separate area for small business development as well as promotion of the arts has much to offer and the other candidates agree, but is that an alternative to our town center with only high end establishments? Certainly we should want a blend of options in both locations for all citizens and visitors to our town. I encourage our next Mayor to support a proper feasibility study. If such a plaza were considered viable, approved and put in place it may not satisfy everyone and displease motorists, but it will surely be embraced by citizens who enjoy the pleasure of walking and biking to town. I wager to say it will also be a boon for the businesses there.

Praising Megan Cook’s “enthusiasm” for business development approaches you support is revealing. Al Silverstein’s knowledge of Salisbury’s experience and talking to downtown business owners demonstrates a practical kicking of the tires which is exactly the first step in considering any shiny object which I want in a Mayor. And this is particularly important when it comes to the critical issues for the town, including physician shortages and the stalled regional medical center project or a blueprint for managed development. Whether it’s business development and managed growth or the more critical accessibility to health care Al has the practical savy to represent the welfare of Easton within the community and in Annapolis and Baltimore. With the important issues before the Easton, Megan Cook has yet to demonstrate that she knows where the tires let alone how to kick them.
