On Sunday, October 9, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Gilbert Byron House will be open for visitors at the Annual Harvest Hoedown held at the Pickering Creek Audubon Center. In addition to numerous artifacts from the Chesapeake Bay author¹s self-built home, visitors will be able for the first time to view a unique collection of photographs taken by or of Gilbert Byron, “The Voice of the Chesapeake.” The photographs have been selected from among the 200 or more negatives and slides that date from between 1939 and the early 1980s.
